Astoria,

Situated on the mouth of the Columbia River, Astoria,
Oregon is where Highway 101 starts the journey south along the
Oregon Coast. Exploration of this area by Captain Robert Gray
in 1792, and Lewis and Clark in 1805 started the rich history
that surrounds this historical town. Visiting ships use the port
located on the Waterfront in Astoria, which will enrich your visit
along with all the other various attractions Astoria has to offer.
Astoria boasts many shops, galleries
and museums, as well as the 125 foot Astoria Column. If you're
in good shape you can climb up the spiraling staircase, inside
the column, to the top. Once there enjoy the breathtaking view.
